i’m the person behind the camera
I’ll guide you through the entire process
My name is Emily & I live in Southwest VA with my Emotional Support Dog - Maverick - & I am here to help guide you through this entire process.
I understand sessions can sometimes be uncomfortable - I am very picky about myself when I am in front of the lens rather than behind it. With my help, this can be one of your most memorable sessions that will light your confidence & allow you to open up & be yourself in front of the lens!
My goal is for you to love YOUR pictures - so lets get started!
1. BOOKING
Send me an email using the Contact Me shortcut with your name, the type of package & session you are wanting - singles, couples, family, holiday themed, pre-graduation, graduation, business, wedding, etc. - and I will get back with you via email to discuss open availability!
2. PICK A LOCATION
I want these pictures to be unique & special to YOU. I am willing to travel for sessions & location is everything! Open fields, rolling hills, mountains, oceans, & even historic landmarks give us so many opportunities to make beautiful memories! Let me know your ideal location & we can discuss our game-plan for session day! Or, if you have no clue somewhere you would like your pictures taken, I have a few locations I use & I am willing to share!
3. POSES & OUTFITS
Poses & outfits can make or break pictures - so we want to make sure you are comfortable in what you are wearing! I highly suggest brining a back-up outfit & a few extra accessories - especially for unexpected weather - so we are able to continue our session according to plan!
When working with different poses, if you find that you don’t feel entirely comfortable with the pose - we can always adapt & adjust til you are comfortable! Some poses will seem very awkward & even uncomfortable - however, some of them make for the best pictures! Communication is key!
4. SEASONS & TIMES
Weather & lighting are photographers biggest challenges. Finding the right time of day for perfect lighting & trying to capture the perfect picture without your hair blowing in your face. In my experience, I have taken pictures during all four seasons & I have learned that no season is better than another - there are always pros and cons. My favorite times are towards the middle of Spring with all the flowers bloomed & towards the end of summer & into fall.
Timing is just as important as anything else & I have found that some of my best pictures have come out towards sunset. The sun‘s perfect golden glow gives an amazing contrast between all the colors that surround us & make for great pictures!
